Get knocked down get up again

I posted the game at a more rpgmaker oriented site and got slapped down pretty hard for my mapping. In all honesty I wasn't concentrating on that too hard as working out the details of a non linear game is a bit more thought consuming than most rpgs. However it wasn't all bad since I got some good advice on how to make better maps.
Quick edit, for an example of how I am improving things look at this new picture and see the change. Photobucket

Version .03 of Gensokyo Everyday's story

I was planing on having another version of Gensokyo Everyday's story up before the end of the year and here it is. This is a much improved version of the game even though it is still woefully incomplete. Improvements I have for this version include:
An actual working combat system
More events, skills and items
A new scenario and maps because the game was sorely lacking in vampires
Better mapping, to show an example of how it has improved
Before

Now

Anyways to get your hands on the new download you can find it here

barrage of realization

It came to me about a couple of days ago but I realized something important that my game was missing. You see central to the Touhou experience is the fact that in the land of Gensokyo girls will beat each other up with shiny magic bullet formations called Danmaku at the drop of a hat (which almost all of them wear). However my game was critically lacking in combat support. This most obvious in a certain event when the option of beating up a certain character to pass the event was left out even though it was probably the course of action that most Touhou characters would probably have taken.

I plan on changing this in the next edition with support for a more vigorous combat system complete with an item based combat system.

New version

After almost three weeks of work I have come out with a new version of Gensokyo Everyday's story. This new version is expanded in several ways,
New maps, Including a workable forest of magic
New skills, Including the beginnings of the fishing system
New Items, Including the ability to fly instantly to other locations
Most importantly there is now a scenario to play Reimu other than the tutorial. This scenario as well as the game is still very incomplete. It is grounded enough that it does provide a basic framework for the rest of the game. Thus at this point I am very open to comments and constructive criticism on how to improve the game. You can download the game here http:download link

FAQ
1.When do the events in the Reimu Scenario occur?
A:All but one start on a preplanned day with the latest of them beginning on day 12.

attack of work

I have been working a lot for the past few weeks and that has been slowing down production of the game considerably. This does not mean I have stopped working on it though, as I plan to have a new and improved version ready sometime next week 16th-20th)

An update and a new release

Hello everybody. If you thought that a blog about a game with no media to said game was incredibly lame you were right. But I am now here to fix this. You can download a simple tutorial of the game. While I did have something done as of the last post it consisted of walking around a few poorly made maps and having one line conversations with six or so characters, all of which you could accomplish in three minutes. However this tutorial should not only give you some idea of how the larger game is going to be played but also be far more substantial in terms of game play as it should take at least 10 minutes. Maybe the next release will contain a half an hour's worth of gameplay(or more).Anyways enough talking and here is the link to the game

Note you need rpgmaker xp rtss to play the game.

Gensokyo snack wars begins!

Hello everybody reading this and welcome to Gensokyo snack wars. What is that you ask? Namely It is a Touhou fan game that I am making using rpgmaker xp. If you don't know what Touhou is, it is a series of very popular video games that you can learn more about by reading this
For those of you that do know what it is (which you should at least because you read the link) Gensokyo Snack wars is a different type of rpg game, more of a harvest moon type game rather than a dragon quest or final fantasy type rpg, In other words a game that focuses more on making money and building relationships than on defeating an big monster.

As of right now I am only at the bare beginnings of making the game as I only have three areas mapped out and of what I do have done with them, the forest of magic isn't much of a forest yet and the human village only has two buildings so far. I plan to continue working hard at the game so as to have a simple demo ready soon. Please continue to check back with this blog and watch Gensokyo Snack wars grow.
